We went fishing today. VG was very excited to go so we loaded up our poles and I took a book to read and we headed up the road to catch a fish. Michael cast out the first pole and before he could even hand it off to VG there was a fish on the line! They reeled it in and I snapped a picture and they let it go again.
I was tickled at VG because she actually held the silly fish. If you know my girl very well, then you know she is a very dramatic chickadee. She likes the idea of doing something but chickens out and becomes very dramatic at the last minute. I love her though! After her snapshot and throwing the fish back in she decided she was done fishing. This frustrated my hubby to no end but he is rather good with her and decided to take her for a walk. I was observing all of this from my comfortable lawn chair on the shore while holding a book pretending to read. He is quite an amazing daddy. It warms my heart to see them together. I must admit that I almost feel bad for the young man who comes to date my girl years from now. He will have quite the competition. No one will hold a candle to her daddy in her eyes. He held her hand gently and walked with her stopping to help her when she needed it. He talked calmly and softly and answered all of her questions. He was definitely made to be the father of a girl.
Watching all of this I couldn't help but think about my Heavenly Father. I think of how He walks along beside me and I can trust Him and talk to Him and He gently and patiently whispers to me. He protects me and cherishes me. He loves me and calls me His own. He guides my steps when I let Him and lifts me up when I fall. Yes, there is nothing sweeter than The Father's love
He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge.
His truth will be your sheild and armour.

Oh I Love A Rainy Night....
Rain. Need I say more? It is storming all over Arkansas tonight.I love the rumble of the thunder and the sound of the rain as it hits the tin roof on my house. There is lightening flashing in the distance and it lights the sky for a brief moment as the wind twirls through the trees. It is somewhat thrilling and I love it! It impels me to acknowledge God's greatness. He is SO powerful! To know that the same God that controls the storms lives in my heart and wants to be my friend is overwhelming! He has all power and is in control through all of life's storms. I shake my head as I write it because it is too much for me to fathom. The God of this world sent His only son to die for me. I am loved!

Excuse This House
Some houses try to hide the fact
That children shelter there;
Ours boasts of it quite openly,
The signs are everywhere.
For smears are on the windows,
Little smudges on the doors;
I should apologize, I guess,
For toys strewn on the floor.
But I sat down with the children
And we played and laughed and read;
And if the doorbell doesn't shine,
Their eyes will shine instead.
For when at times I'm forced to choose
The one job or the other;
I'd like to cook and clean and scrub,
But first I'll be a mother.
